BBQ with THE bodyguard

Imagine, the bodyguard of the President (of the country you are staying in) is inviting you to have a BBQ at his bar somewhere outside town. Well, we imagined a nice lodge somewhere outside of Lusaka. Maybe (or hopefully) a little bit isolated, lots of nice nature around and nobody beside us. Well, we drove a little bit more than 30minutes and for most of the time it looked like we were right. The way in fact lead us in the middle of nowhere somewhere between Lusaka and Mumbwa. And than, suddenly a small town in the middle of nowhere. The explanation: a mine (don't ask me what!)
Proudly the bodyguard (sorry forgot his name) showed us his bar: an small building with two room, one where you can sit along the wall and at the bar and the other with a pool table. It was packed. Lots of drunk people, Sunday afternoon, because of some pool competition.
Of course we got some attention, of course I was the only Musungu, of course we were a little bit disappointed. It was not exactly a place we wanted to spend a relaxed Sunday afternoon...
Well, what can you do in this kind of situation? We went to the backyard and did our BBQ there. We got fresh fish from the market (Kafue river apparently is not to far), chicken, sausages, eggplant and bread. Ignoring the people in the pool room ("Musungu!") and the people who thought that we would brai for everybody who wants, we had a fun afternoon in the end. Eggplant on the grill!
In front: Temba. Writing an sms: Matutu. Preparing the fresh fish: a guy that I do not know but we spend the afternoon with
Coincidentally Matutu met a old schoolmate from Mazambuka. It must be long time ago, because they did not remember each others names!
With our "host"
On the way back: trees here are just fascinating. One day I will have a big garden with a lot of trees and I will know all their names!
